FUTURE FARMERS

We aim for a  biorevolution Movement - To fuse science with design, To create a fully circular production of local, sustainable materials and spread it around the world.  Our inspiration derives from the symbiotic processes of nature, specifically the life-cycle of plants, where there is no waste and everything is recycled.

HOW DID IT START?

The project began in 2016 with one question.

What if we could grow renewable, versatile materials, using local resources, instead of making them?

The project objective was to design an efficient, scalable process that could turn local bio-waste into natural and home compostable materials. The initial experiments began with cellulose grown from the Kombucha brewing process. However, due to the mechanical properties, it was determined that this type of cellulose is not suitable for commercial production.  It was back to the drawing boards for a long time but after years of trial and error, founders  were able to create Scoby Packaging Materials, a durable, home compostable, 100% plastic-free material. Since then MGL has created a variety of materials that hold the possibility to take the material industry into a more sustainable path.
