Growing The Future Of NanoFibers
SPM® NanoFibers
SPM® is a high performance nano-fiber referred to as bacterial nano-cellulose (BNC).
Cellulose is a crucial component of a plant cell or perhaps you know cellulose as a major component of the paper industry. Either or, cellulose is the most abundant polymer on earth and the impact it has on our daily lives is larger than you think.

Not all cellulose is created equeal.
Cellulose is not easy to extract from nature, and this process requires lots of water, chemicals, and energy.
What makes MakeGrowLab unique is that we have figured out how to grow pure cellulose using a circular process without needing chemicals, trees, or extensive water use.
The entire process is done in-doors, with less energy and costs then extracting cellulose from trees and beyond that,
it's 600x more efficient!
It also results in a finer form of cellulose know as nano-cellulose which when compared to traditional cellulose has a lot of more useful features such as high surface area-to-volume ratio, high tensile strength and more.

SPM Nanofibers in Packaging:
SPM Suspension is as a material additive or coating
to make materials:
-Lighter
-Stronger
-With better oxygen, water vapor and grease barrier properties.
Beyond that SPM-based materials are fully recyclable
with existing paper stream, biodegradable and ready to use
by existing manufactures.

SPM Films
SPM cellulose as an additive is not the only use case that can make packaging more sustainable. Films are our other application of SPM We can use them to make fully biodegradable sachets, bags, or as a coating.
